We've created this technical overview to give you some background on our datacenters, networks, servers and software. If you're looking to see if we support some particular software or script, this is the article to read.

DataCenters

A solid webhosting company can only be built on a solid foundation. WebHostingBuzz has been built from the ground up on a rock solid foundation consisting of top quality management & staff, hardware, inspiration, and creativity. The base of our network stability relies in our choice in datacenters.

We house our production servers in three datacenters mentioned below:

  • FortressITX, Clifton, NJ
  • SoftLayer, Dallas, TX
  • AtlantaNAP, Atlanta, GA

Features of each can be found here: WHB Hosting Technology

These three datacenters have been selected because of their stable environment and their excellence displayed in both power and network availability. Each of them offer network redundancy that is unmatched by the competition.

We also maintain servers in other geographically diverse areas of the US for our DNS cluster, allowing us to serve DNS requests in the unlikely event either datacenter suffered an outage.

Servers

We use high end Supermicro hardware as the basis for all servers. Server specifications range from Dual Xeon with 4GB RAM and 1TB RAID Hard Drive to 8 CPU Xeon 5410 servers with 12GB RAM and SATA2 RAID5 disks.

Our dedicated servers are built around the same model, and custom configurations are available to suit specific needs such as high end clusters.

Network

The network. Many hosts boast about the "powerful network" they reside on, but do they actually know what it all means? Do they understand what would happen if one of their providers had a failure?

We do. And we also realize that our choice in datacenters and network providers have given us the advantage over our competition. Below are some of the Tier 1 providers that power our networks:

  • Above.net
  • Global Crossing
  • Level(3)
  • SAVVIS
  • Internap

Software

We are a LAMP-based web host (Linux Apache MySQL PHP). We heavily tweak the service configuration on our servers for optimal performance and load reduction. From custom kernels to tweaked config files for MySQL, our server administrators know what works for the job at hand.

We maintain a record of both supported and non-supported scripting languages for our client base. This list can and does evolve, but is a good reference point. Should you have a specific requirement, we encourage you to contact our friendly support staff before you make any decisions or assumptions. Often one language can be used in place of another, or a better solution may be available.
