Default 2 domains one server

I am not really to good at the web stuff but I have managed for sometime now. I need to figure out how to have my old domain, that is still registered, pointed to a new web server that host a new domain name. Is that possible?

Does that make sense?

Right now I run 2 servers with there own domain name. Well I only need one now and I want to have it so anyone who types in my old domain name will get sent to my new site.

Thanks!

Of course, this is possible.

If you want visitors to the first domain to end up at the second domain, and see the second domain in their web browser's address field, then set up a redirect of the first domain to the second. If you want visitors to think they are still at the first domain, and keep the first domain name in their web browser's address field while displaying the contents of the second domain's web site, then park the first domain onto the second domain.

Both functions are available within cPanel.

So I dont have to do anything to the Nameservers? This domain is still connected to it original server. I dont really get it. But I know I have a parked domain feature so I will stumble around and see if I can make it work as easy as you type it...
LOL

Thanks!

But you will need to never put link to the root like: www.thissite.com/folder/page.html

better get all links in the second server like: ../../page.html

If not you will return to old server name...

If you want to use the cPanel features I mentioned, then the domain must be hosted here, so you'd have to specify WHB nameservers. If you have a reseller account here, you can use your own personal nameservers.

If you want to do a redirect as I described, you could do that from your old server if you want to leave the first domain there and redirect it to the second domain here. I assume that you must have at least one of the domains here, otherwise why would you ask the questions here?

yea so I can tell I am way over my head here.

Both of my domains are hosted here at WHB,but regitered thru namecheap. I checked namecheap where I register both domains and the nameservers for my domains are the same for each domain.

You realize that the domain I want to PARK is hosted on a server I dont want to use any longer, I want to cancel that server account. I just want anyone who types the domain to get sent to my new servers domain name and site.

I know you know what you are talkin about but I really dont get it. Sorry... I went to park the domain on the server I want it on and it had an error said it was owned by another use, yea me..... baby steps. I try my best to get all of this...

You must go to Namecheap and use their interface to delete the existing nameservers and specify WHB nameservere, so that the domain will resolve to your server here.

It is prolly me that is missing something here but I went to Name cheap looked at both of my nameserver info and they are the same for both domains. I dont see anywhere to do anything with nameserver ips. do I need to?

Both of my domains are ns100.whbdns.com ns101.whbdns.com for nameserver...

Then I have the IP's for the name server but dont know what to do with that if anything...

Good, if they both have WHB nameservers then both should resolve here. You must decide if you want a redirect or a park. I gave you two options, you need to choose one.

oh sorry,

I want to do the redirect.

So at namecheap do I want to add new nameservers (NS1 NS2) and then give it the primary and then secondary IP's resepctively?
