Why would you need to add new nameservers? You said that both domains are already using WHB nameservers.

Dude, I'm willing to help you but you need to get organized. You need to figure out exactly what you want to do, and communicate clearly. Posting contradictory information or confused statements doesn't help.
And, you still haven't told me whether you have a reseller account or a shared hosting account. If it's reseller, go into cPanel for the domain you want to redirect, and use the Redirect function. Specify the second domain as the target/destination. If it's shared hosting, you'll likely have to add the new domain as an Addon domain first, before you can redirect it. |

UGH I still really dont get what is happening when I make these changes. But I will make them.. For point three OK, here on WHB on the same server, I get that... I am sure if I post up problems when I make this change you are gonna run like forest to the hills... LOL run forest run..... Thanks again Alan! Chris |

I suggest that you login to cPanel and have a look at the functions I mentioned. If you follow what I described, you should be able to do this all in cPanel. I'm off to get ready for bed now, so I can't help you further until tomorrow.

Ok ok sorry, Bed is prolly a good idea I did not mean to aggrivate you. You have to understand this is all greek to me. I went back and re read your info, and to me I gave you what you needed. I want to understand that is the thing.... I dont think I was contradictary I just dont know the terms or understand what you are asking sometimes.
I am pretty organized with what I know its just what I dont know that makes my brain hurt. So I am not a reseller... I know that...so I assume I am shared hosting account, Buz lite silver is all I know. You wrote: "If it's shared hosting, you'll likely have to add the new domain as an Addon domain first, before you can redirect it. " Ok now this is something I was trying to figure out on my own but I just dont get it. So I go to add on domain and get here, and this is where everything goes greek on me ... New Domain Name: Subdomain/Ftp Username: Document Root: So that is the first obsticle. Then after that you say then redirect it. This is where I am lost again. I want to shut down the original server this domain is on and want to redirect anyone who goes to that domain to get to my new domain..... I am really sorry again as I did not mean to confuse you. So here I will give you my specific site info, Site one is www.caoffroaders.com I really dont use it anymore nor does it serve any purpose but I have visitors that have no idea I am shutting it down because I have a new domain at site 2 and this is the site I want to use www.goodtimesoffroading.com. I want everyone who types www.caoffroaders.com to just be sent to the goodtimesoffroading site. Thank you for your help... Again.... Last edited by forexfour; 03-06-2009 at 04:58 AM. |

You're still not giving me complete information. Perhaps you're confused yourself about what you have already setup here at WHB.
![]() I tested your domains. caoffroaders.com and goodtimesoffroading.com already both resolve here to your WHB server. That means two things:

I have checked the domains in our system and found you have 2 hosting accounts:
Buzz Silver [goodtimesoffroading.com] Buzz Silver [caoffroaders.com] I can see two possible ways to set redirect from caoffroaders.com to goodtimesoffroading.com. The worse one is to access http://caoffroaders.com/cpanel -> Redirects , choose 'caoffroaders.com', type 'goodtimesoffroading.com' in the field 'redirects to', click 'Add'. But in this case, when Buzz Silver [caoffroaders.com] expires and you do not renew it (as you've said you do no need it anymore), the redirect will be also disabled. The better one is to close Buzz Silver [caoffroaders.com] at all and ask us to remove it from the server completely. As I see, caoffroaders.com registration is not associated with hosting plan (was not registered by WHB for free) and expires only on 10-feb-2010. Thus once the account is removed you can access http://goodtimesoffroading.com/cpanel -> Parked domains and 'add' your registered 'caoffroaders.com' to Buzz Silver [goodtimesoffroading.com]. Parked domain points to the same content as the main one (goodtimesoffroading.com in your case). However the users will still see http://caoffroaders.com in web browser's address line. If this is not appropriate, you may use 'Redirects' in this cPanel and set it same as in previous method. |

Right, I suspected that he had two separate hosting accounts here, even though he said that caoffroaders.com was still at his old host. That's why I kept asking questions, since what he was saying wasn't adding up.
I agree with Maxim, if the redirection of caoffroaders.com is intended to be permanent, then he should close caoffroaders.com's hosting account. Once that is done, he can access goodtimesoffroading.com's cPanel to Park caoffroaders.com. Once it is parked, he should then access the separate Redirects page to Redirect caoffroaders.com to goodtimesoffroading.com. |
