Question VPS questions

Hi, considering a VPS server from you but couldn't find answers to a few things:

1. Full root access included?
2. Full DNS management included (e.g. changing MX records etc)?
3. Is there a limit on simultaneous FTP connections (like you seem to have for shared-hosting)?
4. What are your established maximum ratios of VPS accounts / server?
5. You seemed to have somewhat lengthy disk / RAID issues on VPS3 and VPS4 - please provide details on root causes and preventive actions taken (especially to minimize future downtimes on re-occurence).

Thx

Hi,

Thanks for the interest.

1. Yes it is.
2. Yes it is.
3. No, there is no limit.
4. Typically we have 15-25 VPSes per carrier server. Carrier servers are Dual Xeon 5410s (8 x 2.33Ghz), 12GB RAM, RAID5 SATA disks. The number is dependant on the type of VPS.
5. The RAID issues were replacing degraded disks in the array. All new VPS servers are RAID5 which minimises the possibility of any HD issues.

How about if on a vps account someone backloops into your exchange server while your not paying attention and gets your IP blacklisted.
or
if you have a person developing a site on your VPS and they are waiting for a customer decisions the site get hacked and someone sets up a phishing page in the background while details for the site are discussed and the IP address is nailed again as naughty.

How can WHB help to clear up those issuses?????

We are your web host, we do not manage your customers for you. If we become aware of an issue (or a blacklisted IP) then we will inform you once we get notification from Spamcop etc or other organisations.

We can, of course, remove any offending content but we strongly urge you screen your customers and have suitable acceptable usage policies in place.
