We’ve just completed a deal that secures us 400sq foot of private datacenter space in our own caged suite in AtlantaNAP, Atlanta. This gives us space for approximately 1,000 servers and adds much more scope to the services that we can provide. We will also be running our own network (previously, we bought bandwidth from the facility itself) and this will allow us to tune everything for customers needs. We also have our own dedicated power feed/UPS along with a custom cooling configuration for our private space. Pretty cool huh?
We will have to physically migrate servers about 200ft from there current location (we have 9 racks in the general colocation area) to our new private area and we expect around 15 minutes of downtime per server as we do this, but this will be scheduled and maintenance windows will be posted.
Once the migration is completed, we’ll also be publically launching our eagerly anticipated VPS plans. Stay tuned.

With the economy slowing as a result of inflation, it’s hard to say what the impact is on hosting. Web Hosting Unleashed interviewed four key executives at various hosting companies about what impact the |
economy has made on their business, and the results varied.
Here’s what WebHostingBuzz COO and resident DJ Matt Russell had to say about the matter:
“With the global economy in tatters and many of the West facing a “credit crisis”, we’ve noticed a number of things:
1. We have far fewer inactive websites. Most websites are there for a purpose, whereas before we’d have many clients signing up just to test out some features.
2. Our international client base is growing fast. The weak dollar makes our plans very attractive to those outside of the U.S.
3. And of course, consumers are more price-savvy as they have less money to spend.
You can read more opinions on the matter at by reading Chris Lloyd’s article in Web Hosting Unleashed.
Here’s a question for our resellers, have you noticed any up or downtowns as a result of the economy?

Think your host rocks because all of the hosting review sites say they do? Think again. As you may have read in our post on March 22, most of these sites, along with sites that list hosting for certain CMS, are bought and paid for by affiliate marketing schemes. As you may have noticed, WHB would rather put our money into more servers, support, and better server admins, but hey, that’s just us.
BlueHost is regarded by many of these sites as a premiere hosting service. Both BlueHost and HostMonster are put ahead of others in hosting reviews quite frequently. But as you can see from this post on inetintegrity, many of these review sites are hosted on BlueHost’s servers by some guy named Matthew Heaton. The reviews are written as if they were created by an unbiased third party, but in reality they appear to be written by Heaton and associates. What a very dismal job that must be.
The author of this article goes on to share his or her less than stellar experience at BlueHost, which was plagued by frequent downtime and email problems. Sigh.
We at WebHostingBuzz would rather put our money into keeping your site up instead of paying guys like Matthew Heaton. If you appreciate this, please log into Facebook and become a WHB fan.
Many thanks to inetintegrity for bringing this to our attention.
If your going to be a hosting reseller, it’s important to know that the hosting company you are dealing with isn’t just some creepy guy who set up some servers in his mom’s basement. Matt Russell has been in the hosting industry for nine years and has been the WebHostingBuzz COO for four. Learn more about WHB’s reseller and affiliate programs as well as what we are all about in his interview with Reseller Guide.
